August 4th was the feast day of St. John Vianney, the Cure of Ars. His total dedication to serving his people; spending hours in the confessional, preaching the love and salvation of Jesus, and ministering to all in need was a great challenge during a time when the French Revolution was demoralizing the Church. Because of his loving witness as a devoted servant of God, Pope Pius XI, in 1925, canonized this humble priest and declared him patron of parish priests. St. John Vianney said this: “What use would be a house filled with gold, were there no one to open its door? The priest holds the keys to the treasures of heaven: It is he who opens the door.” Thank you for your prayers for our bishop and priests.
