A new policy regarding the age of reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Eucharist will be implemented this fall. The age to receive the sacraments will be no younger than 3rd grade. A two year program will begin the fall of 2013 which includes:
Year 1: Attending Rel. ED. Or Catholic school classes for the school year (starting in 2nd grade or above)
Year 2: includes attending Rel. Ed. Or Catholic school classes for the school year AND evening preparation classes for parents and children.
This means that children will receive Confirmation and First Eucharist in the spring of 2015 after 2 years of preparation.
For this year only (2013-2014) children who will be in 2nd grade or above who have attended Catholic school or Rel. Ed. Classes this past year, will be allowed to prepare and celebrate in 2014. Students in 2nd grade or older, wishing to enroll in these sacramental preparation programs who HAVE NOT attended Rel. Ed. Or Catholic school this past year are asked to enroll in their first year of Rel. Ed. at their grade level.
