Thank you to all who participated in Rice Bowl this Lent. Your contributions support Catholic Relief Services’ programs both around the world and locally and are very important. We were very blessed in Walla Walla, last year, to have received a large grant from Rice Bowl for our food garden at Assumption. If you haven’t turned your Rice Bowl yet, or would like to make a donation to Catholic Relief Services, you may either mail or drop off your Rice Bowl or a check to the parish office this week. Checks should be made out to Assumption church, with CRS Rice Bowl in the memo.
Our Tri-Parish Catholic community was challenged to make a concerted effort to fight hunger from March 1 through April 30th. We took that challenge to heart, resulting in 4,529 pounds of food and $6,462 donated as of this past Friday, April 25. All who contributed to this effort in any way should be commended!
We have until this Wednesday, April 30th to contribute food or funds that will be eligible for the Feinstein Million Dollar Giveaway to Fight Hunger. If you have not had the opportunity to donate you may still do so by bringing your food or money donations to the parish office by this Wednesday.
Jesus meets the need of each disciple. To the fearful in the upper room, He speaks words of peace. To doubting Thomas, He provides the tangible proof of His resurrection. What do I need to become His disciple? What do I have to share that might meet someone else’s need?
