Pope Francis: When mercy encounters a person, it brings deep joy to the Father’s heart, for from the beginning the Father has lovingly turned towards the most vulnerable, because his greatness and power are revealed precisely in his capacity to identify with the young, the marginalized, and the oppressed. He is a kind, caring and faithful God who is close to those in need, especially the poor. Message of Pope Francis for World Mission Day, 2016

Carpenters needed to help make personal shelters for the homeless: The homeless folks from the tent camp at the foot of the golf course moved to a Sleeping Center across from the police station on May 22. Members of the WW Alliance for the Homeless are in the process of making Conestoga huts: individual, insulated, hard-sided, snow proof shelters for the residents. They are the shape of the top of a covered wagon. But the Alliance needs more volunteers with carpentry experience to help build them. Please contact Beth Call, 529-0216, firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help. Donations to help buy materials are also most welcome, WWAH, PO Box 3431, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
