Pope Francis: “To be a mother is a great treasure. Mothers, in their unconditional and sacrificial love for their children, are the antidote to individualism; they are the greatest enemies against war.”
Birthright Giving Tree: Thank you very much to everyone who lent a helping hand to expectant mothers and precious new little ones! If you forgot to bring baby items for the Giving Tree, you can drop them off at the Birthright house, 609 W. Birch St., across from the Ice-Burg. Volunteers are always welcome.
Tri-Parish Garden: Celebrate the new life of spring and the Easter season, by helping in the tri-parish garden next to Assumption Church. Much of the produce goes to food banks for those who have no access to healthy, fresh, greens and veggies. Contact dedicated garden leader, Nancy Wenzel, to see when and how you can help. firstname.lastname@example.org.
Feed the Hungry: Please remember to bring non-perishable food items for St. Vincent’s and BMAC’s food banks. BMAC distributes food to all the food banks of WW. If you prefer to give money, which enables BMAC to buy 6X as much food as we can buy at retail grocery stores, write a check to BMAC food bank and drop it in the collection basket.
Prayers: “When I was hungry, you gave me to eat. When I was thirsty you gave me to drink. Now enter into the home of my Father.” Matt 25. Please pray that our society, following Jesus’ example, will reach out to meet the needs of the poor and homeless, the sick and elderly, immigrants, who contribute so much to our country, refugees from war and natural disaster, the hungry all over the world, especially in Northern Africa. Pray that our country’s leaders will work to solve problems in peaceful ways, not by war. Remember to thank God for home, family, food, water, shelter, beautiful Nature, peace in Walla Walla.
Thank you, Mothers, who following Mary’s example, show unfailing love and care for your families. Happy Mother’s Day!
