Among many wonderful reads in our Assumption library is Without A Doubt – Bringing Faith to Life by Bishop Thomas J. Tobin.
Written in a conversational style, each chapter is like going to visit a bishop personally as he gives insights on all kinds of topics and relates them to our Catholic faith. Bishop Tobin, who prefers to call doubts “healthy skepticism,” answers many questions as he bridges the gap between the teaching of the Church and our lived experiences and offers some very practical observations about the consequences of our Catholic faith in the real world. He points out that to appreciate the faith handed down from the apostles has nothing to do with public opinion polls or agendas of self-appointed groups even within the Church. What does it mean to be Catholic and how do we live out our faith in everyday life? Included is an excellent, challenging letter he wrote to college students.
